Conversation Skills Training

We are a social species, and communication is part of our survival strategy and one of the most important things we learn over out lifetime. However, there is a gap between being able to communicate and being good at conversation.

How do you structure a conversation you plan to have about addressing another’s behavior you don’t appreciate? How can you give appropriate feedback to a co-worker at your workplace? How do you prepare for telling an employee they are being let go?

The basis of all of these more advanced conversations is basic conversational training, where you will learn about the structure of a good conversation, active listening and asking the right questions. You will practice turn-taking, allowing others room to speak, while finding opportunities in a conversation to add yours. Finally, how to summarize and finalize conversations in a way that makes people feel positive about the talk they just had.

As a practical element, we will have a few simple everyday kinds of conversations using these new principles, and see how much our conversations improve by employing them.
